I just spent a good amount of time troubleshooting a computer to get rid of iMesh search engine page which automatically loads when FireFox Web Browser is started. It can be very irritating as you cannot have any other Home page. The Home page you set will automatically be reset to “search.imesh.net” by this annoying addon!
After much research and trial and error, I found a solution to completely get rid of iMesh Search Engine from FireFox Browser.
Uninstall iMesh Search Engine
Step 1:
If you are using Windows 7, type “Programs and Features” in the Start button Search window and open it.
Step 2:
Look for iMesh Search Engine in the list of installed programs. Select and Uninstall. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Removing from FireFox Browser
Uninstalling iMesh may not remove iMesh search from FireFox browser. You need to remove it from FireFox as well. To do that:
Step 1:
Open FireFox Browser on your computer and type “about:config” (without quotes) in the address bar and click Enter.
Step 2:
Click “I’ll be careful, I promise” button when prompted. You will be taken to another page.
Step 3:
Search for iMesh in the list | Right click each one in the results and click “Reset”
Resetting FireFox – Last option
If iMesh is still not removed after performing the steps explained this far, you can try resetting FireFox. This will reset your FireFox browser to factory settings. Note that you may lose all your open tabs and themes and extensions may be reset to defaults when you reset FireFox browser.
To reset FireFox:
Step 1:
If you have the menu bar in your FireFox | Click on Help | Troubleshooting Information
Step 1:
If you do not have the menu bar in Firefox | Click on Firefox button | Click on Help | Troubleshooting Information
Step 2:
In the window displayed, click Reset Firefox | Follow the on-screen instruction, if any.
Firefox will be reset and restart automatically fixing most of the issues with Firefox.
