You may have encountered the following error while trying to open a Excel document in Microsoft Excel 2010 or 2007, that says, “There was a problem sending the command to the program” which will prevent you from opening any excel file.
You can resolve this error by following the steps below;
In Excel 2010
Step 1: Open Microsoft Excel 2010
Step 2: Go to File >> Options
Step 3: Click on Advanced and scroll down and look under General section
Step 4: Remove the tick against “Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)”
Step 5: Click Ok and close the Excel and open the Excel document
In Excel 2007
Step 1: Open Microsoft Excel 2007
Step 2: Click on the Office Button (The menu on the far left)
Step 3: Click on Excel Options and click Advanced and scroll down to General section
Step 4: Remove the tick against “Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)”
Step 5: Click Ok and close the Excel and open the Excel document
